SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. October 19 – Jade Restaurant’s patio will be the scene of Shimmyshowcase’s most popular show of the year—“Shivershowcase!” Christina Rizkallah and Safiyeh will lead another extraordinary line-up featuring Shalimar, Audrey, Meredith Marie, Sephira, Najma, Sarah al Nour, Atlantis, Taji, Maritza, and Shimmy Roses, whose sinuous movements will send shivers up your spine..

Call Jade at 562-430-1111 to make your dinner reservation for 5:45 p.m. to take advantage of happy hour. Please see the host/hostess at the check-in station at the front of the restaurant to locate your table. Shimmyshowcase will begin at 6:30 p.m.
