SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

April 21 – Coordinator Yasmin presents “Appreciation” with Ladies of the Oasis, Na’ilah, Jahnan, Desert Mirage, Ashley, Meryem Vani, Amber Ray & Joy Shannon, and the Om Sisters. These lovely dancers will show you just how much they appreciate belly dancing with performances that you won’t want to miss! Please make plans to join us on April 21 at Jade on the Water to enjoy great food, great drink, and extraordinary dancing. Early reservations are highly appreciated so that Jade’s management can plan accordingly to provide Shimmyshowcase guests the best service.
