SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4th Street; (562) 434-1182  https://www.vientoyaguacoffeehouse.com/

As California conquers COVID-19, and the rebirth of live performance events begins, many of you are probably wondering when Shimmyshowcase will resume.  The good news is that our home, Viento y Agua Coffee House, survived COVID-19 and is once again open to indoor coffee drinking and dining.   However, they are still in the throes of a remodeling effort that began months ago and is being held up by the City of Long Beach!  This past week I spoke with owner Bela, who explained the roadblocks he is still trying to overcome to get his building permit from the City.  So, at this time, the performance area at Viento y Agua remains a re-work in progress.  Suffice it to say that we can’t use it—yet.

Bela (Viento y Agua owner) thinks we should be able to resume our regular Shimmyshowcase by this fall.  Let’s hope that he can clear his issues with the Long Beach planners soon and get his new bar and stage area re-built.  I’ll keep you apprised of any new developments as they occur.

In the meantime, if you haven’t already been vaccinated for COVID-19, please use this time while we wait to resume Shimmyshowcase to get fully vaccinated.  Not only does it protect you, but also your Shimmyshowcase friends and fellow dancers—some of whom have conditions that could make them more vulnerable.  Thank you for your thoughtfulness.
