SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place on one Saturday each month at 6:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach, CA at 4007 East 4^th Street; 562-434-1182.

August 19 – The gorgeous and talented Christina Rizkallah and Safiyeh team up to host their first Shimmyshowcase featuring guest dancers Yasmin, Mandi, Yeril, Musa, Yasmeen el-Shaam, Kamar, and Audrey. With their selected theme “Anything Goes,” it is left to the imagination just what splendid moves these lovely dancers will show us; however, one thing we know for certain is that they are sure to deliver a terrific show! If you would like to be part of it all, be sure to come on down to Viento y Agua on August 19th and prepare to be entertained!
