SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place on one Saturday each month at 6:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach, CA at 4007 East 4^th Street; 562-434-1182.

August 19 – Guest coordinators Christina Rizkallah and Safiyeh picked “Anything Goes” for this Shimmyshowcase theme, opening up this program to an unlimited range of performer opportunities! Elegant guest dancers Yasmin, Mandi, Yeril, Musa, Yasmeen el-Shaam, and Audrey will be adding their dazzling moves to those of our talented co-hosts.
