Now in its tenth year, Sunday Shimmyshowcase in Long Beach continues to provide a place where all dancers, regardless of proficiency, can perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance.

UPCOMING SHOWCASE CALENDAR

SHIMMY SHOWCASE at I-Candy Coffee will begin at 7:00 p.m. through April. Beginning May 1, we’ll start one hour earlier—at 6:00 p.m. I-Candy is located in Long Beach at 1708 E. Broadway; 562-437-3785.

April 10 -- Amber is your coordinator for this Shimmyshowcase, and she welcomes Beach Bellies, and Ana to our magic carpet. Plus, she’ll be introducing Bathsheba making her first Shimmyshowcase appearance! Please join us in welcoming all these lovely ladies as they mesmerize you with their sensuous movements and captivating music.

April 17 -- Speakeasy! A night of roaring 1920's inspired entertainment! Prohibition, Jazz, Charleston, Dixieland, flappers, gangsters, the red light district...... We left the Victorian Era with its constraints, rules and prudishness to revel in the full throaty fun of the barely acceptable just-this-side of the wrong side of the tracks. On this evening join coordinator Saviya and guest dancers Draca, Bella, and Siraj as they transform I-Candy into a Speakeasy where you can leave behind the conventions of polite society, and indulge yourself in uninhibited revelry.

April 24 - DARK (No Shimmyshowcase) HAPPY EASTER!

May 1 - Abraiha welcomes May, Liz, and Circe once again and introduces new dancer Shauntel to Shimmyshowcase. Celebrate May Day by joining us at I-Candy Coffee an hour earlier. Beginning with this showcase, we’ll be starting promptly at 6:00 pm. Please try to arrive around 15 minutes early so you can get a refreshing beverage or perhaps the sandwich and salad special and settle in your seat so you don’t miss one minute of these dazzling dancers’ performance.

May 8—DARK (No Shimmyshowcase)—Happy Mothers’ Day!

May 15 -- Jannah, your coordinator for this program presents another new Shimmyshowcase theme--“Rainbows.” Guest dancers Sonia and Dauud will demonstrate their colorful displays of dance on I-Candy’s magic carpet and who knows, you might find a pot of gold! Remember, we’re now starting at 6:00 pm, so please mark that on your calendar so you won’t miss a minute of this intriguing program.
