April 17 -- Speakeasy! A night of roaring 1920's inspired entertainment! Prohibition, Jazz, Charleston, Dixieland, flappers, gangsters, the red light district...... We left the Victorian Era with its constraints, rules and prudishness to revel in the full throaty fun of the barely acceptable just-this-side of the wrong side of the tracks. On this evening join coordinator Saviya and guest dancers Draca, Bella, Siraj, Deborah, Anastasia and Madame Sunset as they transform I-Candy into a Speakeasy. Come join us as we leave behind the conventions of polite society and indulge yourself in uninhibited revelry!

April 24 - DARK (No Shimmyshowcase) HAPPY EASTER!

May 1 - Coordinator Abraiha and guest dancers May, Liz, Circe, and Shauntel dance for Japan at this Shimmyshowcase, for which all tips received will be donated to the Red Cross in support of Japanese earthquake relief efforts, Celebrate May Day by joining us at I-Candy Coffee to support Shimmyshowcase and our friends in Japan. Beginning with this showcase, we’ll be starting promptly at 6:00 pm. Please try to arrive 15 minutes early so you can get a refreshing beverage or perhaps the sandwich and salad special and settle in your seat so you don’t miss one minute of these dazzling dancers’ performance.

May 8—DARK (No Shimmyshowcase)—Happy Mothers’ Day!

May 15 -- Jannah, your coordinator for this program presents another new Shimmyshowcase theme--“Rainbows” with brilliant performances by Sonia, Meryem Vani, plus two hot male dancers—Siraj and Dauud displaying a full spectrum of bellydance on I-Candy’s magic carpet. This talent is worth a pot of gold, so be sure to join us at I-Candy for an amazing evening of entertainment! Remember, we’re now starting at 6:00 pm, so please mark that on your calendar so you won’t miss a minute of this intriguing program.

May 22 - No Shimmyshowcase—(Gay Pride weekend, which means parking is even worse than usual!)

May 29 -- Shimmyshowcase goes to the Circus with “Under the Big Top.” Saviya is your ringmaster leading a stupendous lineup of bellydance acts featuring Nova Kachina and other amazing feats of dance. Dancers, if you’ve ever wanted to run off and join the circus, please email us at Shimmyshowcase@gmail.com to become part of the greatest Shimmyshowcase on earth. Our greatest act will be donating all trips received on this evening to “A Place Called Home,” A Place Called Home (http://www.apch.org/) is a safe haven in South Central Los Angeles where underserved youth are empowered to take ownership of the quality and direction of their lives through programs in education, arts, and well-being; and are inspired to make a meaningful difference in their community and the world.
