SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Shimmyshowcase concluded an amazing, but all too short, run at Babouch when they closed in August, 2023. Shimmyshowcase returned to Long Beach on September 17, 2023 at Jade Restaurant, which was our home for another 31 months. Sadly, Jade closed on March 22, 2026, leaving Shimmyshowcase again in search of a new home. We remain optimistic that Shimmyshowcase will, once again, find a new home for our unique style of belly dancing. UPCOMING SHOWCASE CALENDAR AND DANCER OPPORTUNITIES

The SHIMMY SHOWCASE begins at 7 p.m. at I-CANDY COFFEE in Long Beach (1708 E. Broadway -- 562-437-3785).

July 25 – Xandra will be coordinating this Shimmyshowcase and is thrilled to have Alexandra Samuel, Devon and Jamali Bellydance Trio performing on this evening. We still have an opening for another dancer, so if you would like to perform for this showcase, please contact us at Shimmyshowcase@gmail.com.

August 1 – Coordinator Abraiha welcomes guest dancers Tahma , Ana, and Veronique to I-Candy’s magic carpet on this first Sunday in August. We hope you can come down to I-Candy to see these exquisite dancers enthrall you with their gorgeous interpretations of middle eastern dance.

August 8 – Saviya will be coordinating this evening’s Shimmyshowcase, and she has guest dancer Nova Kachina all ready lined up to shimmy for you! We have room for more dancers, so if you would like a performance spot, please send an email to Shimmyshowcase@gmail.com and we’ll put you on the program!

August 15 - Ilana from the Om Sisters presents “Rock a Belly!” In case it isn’t clear, this is Rock ‘n Roll--belly dance style! We already have Haven Bellydance troupe and Delilah signed on as guest rockers/dancers and would love to have another dancer!
