SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

May 18 –Christina Rizkallah & Safiyeh host their first Shimmyshowcase at Jade Restaurant with “Dance in Bloom,” featuring guest dancers Azhar Jamila, Shimmy Roses, Meredith, Audrey, ZuZu Bowie, Draca, Taji, and Adora.

Jade Restaurant is now booking Shimmyshowcase dinner reservations as they do for their other scheduled shows. Please make dinner reservations for no earlier than 5:45. The show begins at 6:30 p.m. Please inform your guests who want to sit together as a group that they might be asked to wait until everyone in their party has arrived before being seated at the scheduled reservation time. Reservations may be made by calling Jade at 562-430-1111.

June 15 – Bella Noor presents “Desert Sands” with Sephira, Anaheed, Maritza, Adora, Christina Rizkallah, Cyriana, and Ritual Alchemy Dance Company

July 20 – Yasmin presents “Anything Goes!” (Take 2) with Najma, Sephira, Taji. Elisa, Sarah al Nour, and Desert Mirage.
