SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

January 21 – Atlantis takes a strong first turn as Shimmyshowcase coordinator with “Girl Power!” Dancers Janahn, Yasmin, Trish, Saviya, Shaheen, and Sephira & Mansoura are already honing their dance powers (and some swords!) for this show. We know that you won’t want to miss this Shimmyshowcase, so make your plans now to join us at Jade on January 21! Plan to arrive around 5:30 p.m. to order drinks and food at happy hour prices before the dancing begins at 6:00. Tables will be configured for maximum seating, with four seats per table. Please do not rearrange the tables. Reservations are highly recommended.
