SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. ~~ UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS ~~


SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4th Street; (562) 434-1182.

May 18 – Saviya and Draca bring mystery and wonder to Viento y Agua with “The Magic of Dance” Shimmyshowcase.  Christina Rizkallah, Shelly Burgwald, Sephira, Bella, Hala, Meryem Vani, Suzanna, Shaheen, Saahira, and Safiya are preparing to work their special magic on our stage where they will dance between the worlds of reality and illusion.  One thing we know is real is that this program is guaranteed to delight and entertain you!
