SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. ~~ UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS ~~


SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 6:30 p.m. for most of 2018  at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4th Street; (562) 434-1182.

November 17 - Coordinators Saviya and Draca end this Shimmyshowcase year with a new theme:  “The Elements.”  They, together with guest dancers Tiger Lily, Bella, Christina Rizkallah, Shelly, Suzanna, Lorraine, Taji, and Jheri St. James will embody their favorite natural elements in dance!  Please join us for this last Shimmyshowcase of 2018 and prepare yourselves for a truly elemental belly dancing experience.



SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place at 6:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4th Street; (562) 434-1182.  Plan to arrive a bit early so you can purchase a tasty sandwich, salad, dessert or beverage before settling in your seat to enjoy some really great dancing.  Remember—while there’s no cover charge, we depend upon all guests to support our generous host venue and help Shimmyshowcase keep its home.
