SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. ~~ UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS ~~


SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 6:30 p.m. for most of 2018  at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4th Street; (562) 434-1182.

June 16 – Shimmyshowcase takes to the sea as Cap’n Raqmila and her pirate crew search for mermaids!  Pirates and mermaids in the form of Yasmin, Christina Rizkallah, Suzanna, Meryem Vani, Tiger Lily, King Nacho, Draca, and Musa & Shaheen, will entertain ye landlubbers at the enchanted world of Viento y Agua coffee house.   Be it known that if there still be a swashbuckler or fish among you who would like to join this merry crew, we still have a spot for you!  If you would like to become a part of this exciting maritime dance experience, please email Shimmyshowcase@gmail.com, and we'll add you to our program!

October 6 - Ilana  (Shivershowcase) Open Dancer Sign-Ups begin on September 6

November 17  -  Amber Ray (theme to be determined) Open Dancer Sign-Ups begin on October 17

December – No Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua
