SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Shimmyshowcase concluded an amazing, but all too short, run at Babouch when they closed in August, 2023. Shimmyshowcase returned to Long Beach on September 17, 2023 at Jade Restaurant, which was our home for another 31 months. Sadly, Jade closed on March 22, 2026, leaving Shimmyshowcase again in search of a new home. We remain optimistic that Shimmyshowcase will, once again, find a new home for our unique style of belly dancing. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 6:30 p.m. for most of 2018 at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4th Street; (562) 434-1182.

March 17 – Shimmyshowcase’s 15th Anniversary program is shaping up to be one of our most awesome performer line-ups ever with the return of León to our stage! Plan to join us in two weeks and prepare to be amazed by a dazzling array of talent! In addition to Shimmyshowcase founder/coordinators Alexiis, Amber, Saviya, Ilana and Draca, our updated program features Shimmyshowcase veterans León, Suzanna, Christina Rizkallah, and Van & Cael, AND introduces the exquisite Eunza and Imari. These outstanding dancers are guaranteed to knock your socks off, but (as if that’s not enough) we have even more surprises planned, so be sure that you don’t miss this milestone event!

April 21 – Raqmila (“Fabulous Headgear”) - Open Dancer Sign-Ups begin on March 21

May 19 – Saviya & Draca (“Under the Big Top”) - Open Dancer Sign-Ups begin on April 19

June 16 – Raqmila (Theme to be announced) - Open Dancer Sign-Ups begin on May 16

July 21 –Ilana (Rock-a-Belly) - Open Dancer Sign-Ups begin on June 21
