SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

SHIMMY SHOWCASE will take place on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 6:30 p.m. for most of 2018 at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4th Street; (562) 434-1182.

January 13 –In celebration of Shimmyshowcase’s return to its Long Beach home, Viento y Agua coffee house, as well as her 60th birthday and 10th anniversary as Shimmyshowcase administrator, Xandra (Pat) presents a Shimmyshowcase Birthday Fantasy! Featured guest dancers Meryem Vani, Kamar, Jheri St James, Sarah al Nour, Saviya, Bella Noor, Christina Rizkallah, Suzanna, Safiyeh, Jannah, and Yasmin are guaranteed to deliver a spectacular program with their dazzling dance moves and gorgeous costumes. Plus, a light buffet will be provided prior to the dance showcase. Please plan to join us at 6:00 p.m. for supper and socializing followed by the 6:30 p.m. dance program. Be sure to purchase a tasty dessert or beverage from Viento y Agua to show your support for our host venue--without which Shimmyshowcase could not offer such great entertainment free of charge! .

March 17 - Amber Ray (15th Anniversary celebration!) - Currently signing on all current and former Shimmyshowcase coordinators who’d like to perform for our Shimmyshowcase anniversary extravaganza!!
