SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place on one Saturday each month at 6:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach, CA at 4007 East 4^th Street; 562-434-1182.

May 20 – Amber returns once again to rattle the walls of Viento y Agua Coffee House with the annual Rock ‘n Roll Shimmyshowcase. Guest dancers Bella, Saahira, Musa, Alia Saeed, Meryem Vani, Yasmin, and Christina Rizkallah & Audrey will also be shimmying and shaking up a storm. Come join us and see these wonderful performers combine ancient moves with New World music for an experience that will rock your socks off. What a great way to prepare for next month’s big “quake” (Cairo Shimmyquake that is—see below)!
