SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. ~~ UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS ~~



During 2016, SHIMMY SHOWCASE will take place on the third Saturday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach, CA at 4007 East 4th Street; 562-434-1182.

November 19 -  Draca returns to the 19th century with a Victorian Steampunk Shimmyshowcase.   She has invited beautiful dancers Meryem Vani, Christina Rizkallah, Audrey, Saviya, and Shaheen  to join her in creating a spectacular fantasy event.   We still have spots available for additional dancers, so if you would like to join these exquisite performers, please send an email to Shimmyshowcase@gmail.com so we can sign you up! 


December 17 -  Saviya (Gypsy Fire) - Dancer Sign-Ups begin on November 17
