SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

During 2016, SHIMMY SHOWCASE will take place on the third Saturday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach, CA at 4007 East 4^th Street; 562-434-1182.

Thanks to all who attended our 13th anniversary party last night and helped create more memorable Shimmyshowcase experiences for all participants. Special thanks go out to our dancers and drummers who delivered awesome performances—including some quick-thinking improvisation! We wouldn’t have lasted this long without your support.

We are off to a good start for next month’s program as we already have a FULL line-up of awesome dancers who will be taking our audience on a trip to the movies! Our main feature stars Ilana with special guest stars Suzanna, Saviya, Draca, Rachel, Jannah, Nadia, and Christina Rizkallah & Audrey! Make plans now to attend the opening (and closing!) night at the grand Viento y Agua coffee house theater on Saturday, April 16th at 6:30 pm.
