SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place once a month on scheduled Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4^th Street; 562-434-1182.

August 16 - Summertime Blues come to Shimmyshowcase, and with it an incredible abundance of talent! Coordinator Ilana welcomes dazzling guest dancers Jannah, Sabrina, Tehani, Jheri St. James, Rosé, Christina Rizkallah, Adora, Dalilah, Serafina, and the fabulous Nicole McLaren! Whether it be a classical Blues style, or a more unique expression, these incredible dancers will captivate, mesmerize and enthrall you. Be sure to mark your calendars and get down to Viento y Agua by 6:30 pm so you can get a good seat to see an astounding program that you don’t want to miss!

September 20 - DRACA (Latin Fusion Shimmy)-- Dancer sign-ups begin on August 20

October 18 - ILANA (Shivershowcase)-- Dancer sign-ups begin on September 18

November 15 - Om Sisters (A Night at the Movies—any music from any movie) -- Dancer sign-ups begin on October 15

December 13 – Saviya (holiday focused theme) -- Dancer sign-ups begin on November 13
