SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place once a month on scheduled Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4^th Street; 562-434-1182.

March 15 - Shimmyshowcase coordinators past and present and guest dancers join together to celebrate Shimmyshowcase’s 11th birthday! Shimmyshowcase founders/coordinators Alexiis and Katerina; current coordinators Saviya, Ilana, Amber Ray, and Draca; and guest dancers LaLa, Dalilah and Laura and Francheska of Circata will perform their belly dancing favorites for this special anniversary program. With all of this talent in one Shimmyshowcase, there may be a few other surprises as well so be sure to join us at Viento y Agua on March 15 for a special Shimmyshowcase event you won’t want to miss! Plus, if you bring a copy of Katerina’s just-released fantasy book Elfkind (available at http://www.lulu.com/shop/catherine-cruzan/elfkind/paperback/product-21477796.html and http://amzn.com/B00IRSPR64), Katerina will be happy to personally autograph it for you during the break. . .
