SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Shimmyshowcase concluded an amazing, but all too short, run at Babouch when they closed in August, 2023. Shimmyshowcase returned to Long Beach on September 17, 2023 at Jade Restaurant, which was our home for another 31 months. Sadly, Jade closed on March 22, 2026, leaving Shimmyshowcase again in search of a new home. We remain optimistic that Shimmyshowcase will, once again, find a new home for our unique style of belly dancing. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

SHIMMY SHOWCASE takes place once a month on scheduled Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4^th Street; 562-434-1182.

October 19 - Calling all bellydancing ghosts, goblins, and ghouls! It’s that time once again when coordinator Ilana, joined by sister coordinators Draca and Saviya, will shimmy and shake the spirits back to life at the annual Shivershowcase! Guest dancers Jheri St. James, Meredith, Sarah al Nour, Sabrina, Lala, Azira, and Tehani will add their scary scintillations which, even if they don’t awaken the dead, will surely guarantee a night full of haunting entertainment! So be sure to treat yourself to some great dance tricks and join us at Viento y Agua on October 19!
