SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHOWCASE CALENDAR

SHIMMY SHOWCASE begins on scheduled Sundays at 5:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4^th Street; 562-434-1182.

January 6, 2013 – SHIMMYSHOWCASE begins the new year with a trip to the Circus featuring special guests Meredith Marie and Beach Bellies. You won’t want to miss this spectacular program of bearded ladies, sword swallowers, animals and magicians from the amazing and creative “Cirque du Belly” program originally performed at CSULB last October. Everyone loves a circus, and Xandra hopes you’ll come to Viento y Agua on this night to help her celebrate her birthday with the stupendously talented Beach Bellies of Long Beach!

January 13 – Amber returns to coordinate another Shimmyshowcase and welcomes Dalilah, Aleksia, Erica, and Tribal Revival! We know you will not want to miss these fabulous performers go through their moves, so be sure to mark your calendars and join us at Viento y Agua Coffee house.

January 20 – Your Shimmyshowcase coordinator for this evening is Ilana, and she is cooking up a special Shimmyshowcase for you because she will be taking a short leave of absence from us to prepare to become a mother again! Please join us for a great evening of bellydancing with this amazing mom.
