SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. December 2 – With the beginning of December, the holidays are just around the corner, and what better way to enjoy a holiday experience than at Shimmyshowcase’s Winter Wonderland, presented by Ilana and featuring guest dancers Heather, Aianna, and Reina. We have room for one more dancer interested in joining these wonderfully creative ladies. December 9 - Abraiha is hosting this Shimmyshowcase, and welcomes Annakiya, Najma, Tehani, Jaquelina, and LoriLei. We would love to have you join us and enjoy wonderful performances by these beautiful and talented dancers!

December 16 - Saviya celebrates her 45^th Birthday by going back to the 40’s! So blow those horns and swing, swing, swing! Featured guest dancers include the exciting and incomparable Anastasia, Rebecca, Kamar, and Richie who will surely get you “In the Mood” to celebrate with some fantastic moves on the Shimmyshowcase dance floor.
