SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. October 14 - It’s party time as Draca returns to celebrate her birthday with a masquerade party! Sister coordinator Saviya will charm and entertain you with her amazing creativity, along with the enchanting Aileen, Bella, Reba, and Daa-Uud! For those of you who’d rather watch than perform, please join us at Viento y Agua for another wonderful evening of great dance entertainment with a delicious Mexican mocha or other beverage or snack of your choice. Feel free to don a mask and be a part of the fun and camaraderie!

October 21 - Coordinator Abraiha welcomes the lovely May, Kelsey, Liz, Shauntel and Jaquelina for another Shimmyshowcase evening of dazzling cabaret bellydancing .

October 28 – Halloween is upon us, and Ilana returns with Meryem Vani, Tehani, and Draca and introduces new Shimmyshowcase dancers Elissa and Nashua! They come to haunt Viento y Agua once again with the annual “Shivershowcase!” Be sure to join us and see what thrills and chills these talented dancers will mix in with their shimmies!

November 4 - Amber returns to host another Shimmyshowcase event, and welcomes guest dancers Sabrina, and Meredith Marie. We still have openings so if you’d like to perform with this enormously talented coordinator, email us at Shimmyshowcase@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
