SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHOWCASE CALENDAR & DANCER OPPORTUNITIES

June 10 - Draca will be your hostess for this Shimmyshowcase, and she welcomes Aleksia and Meryem Vani plus new dancers Aianna, Francesca, and Natalia taking their first turns on the Shimmyshowcase dance floor! Please be sure to join us on this special night to give a warm welcome to our newest Shimmyshowcase dancers!

June 17 – NO SHIMMYSHOWCASE -- Happy Fathers’ Day!

June 24 – Shimmyshowcase returns with another popular theme-- Reggae Night—brought to you by coordinator Amber and featuring guest dancers Opal Zapphira, Nadirah, Tehani and Leon! With this fabulous dancer lineup, this is guaranteed to be a spectacular show, so be sure to mark this date on your calendars and shimmy on down to Viento y Agua for some mellow middle eastern moves.

JULY 1 - Calling all bellydance rockers! Shimmyshowcase coordinator Ilana returns with “Rock a Belly” and Daa-Uud, Sabrina, Ewanni, Reba and Rosé are all set to shake, rattle, and roll (and shimmy of course) with her! If this theme gives you good vibes, please be sure to boogie on down to Viento y Agua this night for a great night of Rock’in Bellydance!

July 8 - Saviya returns with those lovely belly dancers from Laguna Beach, JJ & the Habibis! These ladies always put on a great show, which you won’t want to miss, so come join your friends at Viento y Agua, grab one of their delicious beverages or food items, and find yourself a great spot from which to enjoy the show.

July 15 - Abraiha returns to host another Shimmyshowcase and welcomes the stunning Jaquelina and newcomer Sasha plus exciting new guest dancers.

July 22 - NO SHIMMYSHOWCASE
