SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Although the place and city have changed, Shimmyshowcase continues its original mission to provide a place where all dancers, from beginners to seasoned performers, are welcome to perform in front of a warm, appreciative audience. Performers and guests alike keep returning for the temporary escape from the stress of everyday life into this relaxing and fun environment to explore and enjoy middle eastern inspired dance. UPCOMING SHOWCASE CALENDAR AND DANCER OPPORTUNITIES

The SHIMMY SHOWCASE begins at 7 p.m. at I-CANDY COFFEE in Long Beach (1708 E. Broadway -- 562-437-3785).

March 6: Abraiha will be your host for this Shimmyshowcase and she welcomes the elegant May, Nazila, Lois, Liz, and Liliana to I-Candy’s magic carpet. If you enjoy belly dancing in its classic form, you will love this program, so please come to this Shimmyshowcase and let these gorgeous ladies bedazzle you!

March 13 – Shimmyshowcase 8th Anniversary Party! It’s Shimmyshowcase’s 8th Anniversary, and have we got a great show planned for you! You DON’T want to miss this stellar lineup of Bellydancing stars: Katerina & the Kabuki Dolls; Alexiis & the Heart of the Good Witch; Tehani, Siraj, Kamar, and Amber Rey will be our special guest dancers on this occasion. PLUS all of your present coordinators: Saviya, Abraiha, the Om Sisters (Ilana, Jannah and Amber) and Xandra will take their turn on the magic carpet. With so many dancers, we’re starting a half hour early. Please try to arrive around 6:00 pm so you can get a seat for this extra special night as we celebrate 8 years of Shimmyshowcase and say “Thank you” to all our supporters with an amazing bellydance extravaganza!

March 20 - In recognition of the Spring equinox, coordinator and mother-to-be Ilana celebrates “Mother Earth” with guest dancers Nova Kachina, Haven Bellydance, Yuliya Lunessia and Irina-Artemis of Moonchild; and the Om Sisters for this Shimmyshowcase.

March 27 - Saviya will be your coordinator for this Shimmyshowcase, and she welcomes guest dancer Meredith to I-Candy’s magic carpet. If you would like to be added to our guest dancers for this Shimmyshowcase, please email us at Shimmyshowcase@gmail.com for a spot.

April 3 - Jannah presents “Ethnic Spice” with guest dancers Dalilah, Astrid, and Rebecca
