SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Shimmyshowcase concluded an amazing, but all too short, run at Babouch when they closed in August, 2023. Shimmyshowcase returned to Long Beach on September 17, 2023 at Jade Restaurant, which was our home for another 31 months. Sadly, Jade closed on March 22, 2026, leaving Shimmyshowcase again in search of a new home. We remain optimistic that Shimmyshowcase will, once again, find a new home for our unique style of belly dancing. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

September 15 -- Saviya is cooking up another great Shimmyshowcase with “Some Like it Hot!” Jade Restaurant will sizzle with performances by Sephira, Taji, C'Zaheen, Iris Z. Spector dance troupe, Desert Mirage, Zoë DeRose, Draca, and Lily. We hope to see you there!

Shimmyshowcase begins around 6:00 p.m. but early arrivals (reservations recommended, call 562.430.1111) are encouraged if you want to take advantage of the very reasonable Happy Hour prices. October 20—Ilana and Amber return to Jade to host “Shivershowcase!” This most popular of all Shimmyshowcase programs is already FULL, with dancers Farasha, Zuzu Bowie, Sephira, Na’ilah, Maritza, Anaheed, Shalimar, Goldie Kay, and JJ & the Habibis preparing to share their spookiest dance moves.

December 15 – Saviya (Theme To Be Determined).
