SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Shimmyshowcase concluded an amazing, but all too short, run at Babouch when they closed in August, 2023. Shimmyshowcase returned to Long Beach on September 17, 2023 at Jade Restaurant, which was our home for another 31 months. Sadly, Jade closed on March 22, 2026, leaving Shimmyshowcase again in search of a new home. We remain optimistic that Shimmyshowcase will, once again, find a new home for our unique style of belly dancing. UPCOMING SHIMMYSHOWCASE EVENTS

Good News! SHIMMY SHOWCASE will be returning to Viento y Agua coffee house in 2018, celebrating our return to our favorite Long Beach location with a special event on Saturday January 13th. Prior to then, we will be joining forces with the OC World Dance Showcase at Main Street Restaurant, located at 4902 Main Street, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, (714) 777-9427 for our last showcase of 2017.

December 3 – Shimmyshowcase joins OC World Dance Showcase to present a holiday spectacular at Main Street Restaurant. Raqmila has assembled an awesome performer lineup featuring guest dancers Hala, Tahia, Marla, Amena, Jannah, Sabrina, Suzanna, The Fatimas, Meryem Vani, Christina Rizkallah, Tribe Roman Morga, Saahira, Sorceress of the Emerald Winds, and Jheri St. James and the Habibis. As if that’s not enough, you can shop for holiday goodies from Flower with Lipsence, body art by Marguerite Kusuhara, and Kaori Amena Jones during intermission. Finally, there will ugly sweater and best holiday outfit contests, so be sure to deck yourself out in your holiday finery! All of this can be had for no cover charge, beginning at 6 p.m.

January 13 - Xandra celebrates her 60th bd & 10 years as Shimmyshowcase administrator – Open Dancer Sign-Ups begin on December 13

February 17 - (Love theme) - Open Dancer Sign-Ups begin on January 17

March 17 - Amber Ray (15th Anniversary celebration!) - Currently signing on all current and former Shimmyshowcase coordinators who’d like to perform for our Shimmyshowcase birthday extravaganza!
