SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Shimmyshowcase concluded an amazing, but all too short, run at Babouch when they closed in August, 2023. Shimmyshowcase returned to Long Beach on September 17, 2023 at Jade Restaurant, which was our home for another 31 months. Sadly, Jade closed on March 22, 2026, leaving Shimmyshowcase again in search of a new home. We remain optimistic that Shimmyshowcase will, once again, find a new home for our unique style of belly dancing. Sunday February 24 at 5:30 p.m.– For this Valentine’s month, Shimmyshowcase is “All About Love” as coordinators Saviya and Draca lead you down a path to romance with guest dancers Kamar, Dalilah, Zarina, Reba, Jayel, JJ, and Yasmin.. .

March 23 (Shimmyshowcase moves to SATURDAY!) - Shimmyshowcase celebrates our 10^th ANNIVERSARY! Mark your calendars now, for your Shimmyshowcase coordinators are planning a special evening to celebrate ten years of Shimmyshowcase in Long Beach. The fun will begin at 6:00 p.m and will feature dancing by Shimmyshowcase coordinators past and present plus invited guest dancers.
