SHIMMY SHOWCASE

Shimmyshowcase began in 2003 at Coffee Haven in Long Beach. In 2011 we moved to Viento y Agua Coffee House, where we danced every month until COVID-19 brought Shimmyshowcase at Viento y Agua to an end in March 2020. Our search for a new Shimmyshowcase venue yielded a generous offer from the owners of Babouch Moroccan Restaurant in San Pedro, CA! Shimmyshowcase made its spectacular debut at Babouch on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to a restaurant filled to capacity with a large crowd of enthusiastic Shimmyshowcase supporters, many of whom got up to dance with the performers in an impromptu grand finale to finish off a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Shimmyshowcase concluded an amazing, but all too short, run at Babouch when they closed in August, 2023. Shimmyshowcase returned to Long Beach on September 17, 2023 at Jade Restaurant, which was our home for another 31 months. Sadly, Jade closed on March 22, 2026, leaving Shimmyshowcase again in search of a new home. We remain optimistic that Shimmyshowcase will, once again, find a new home for our unique style of belly dancing. September 30 - From Disco to Peace, Love and Happiness, come get your groove on with Ilana at this Shimmyshowcase. Dancers, whether you’re 60’s love child or a disco queen from the 70’s, this Shimmyshowcase is for you! Guest dancers Rosé, Tehani and Daa-Uud are already set to boogie –Shimmyshowcase style! October 14 - It’s party time as Draca returns to celebrate her birthday with a masquerade party! Sister coordinator Saviya will charm and entertain you with her amazing creativity, along with the enchantingly delightful Aileen, Bella and Reba! For those of you who’d rather watch than perform, please join us at Viento y Agua for another wonderful evening of great dance entertainment with a delicious Mexican mocha or other beverage or snack of your choice. Feel free to don a mask and be a part of the fun and camaraderie!

October 21 - Coordinator Abraiha welcomes the lovely May, Kelsey, Liz, Shauntel and Jaquelina for another Shimmyshowcase evening of dazzling cabaret bellydancing .

October 28 – Halloween is upon us, and Ilana returns to haunt Viento y Agua once again with the annual “Shivershowcase!” Dancers—here’s your chance to have some fun and add a few thrills and chills to the evening!
