February 26 – Shimmyshowcase will be taken over by the ever-popular JJ & the Habibis troupe on this night, and coordinator Saviya couldn’t be happier to host this wonderful, versatile troupe. Be sure to join us as the Habibis are sure to put on a delightfully fun program.

March 4 – Abraiha returns to coordinate another Shimmyshowcase with lovely guest dancers May, Liz, Shauntel, and Janice.

As if that stellar lineup isn’t enough, special guest dancer, the fabulous Feiruz, will add her sparkle to this Shimmyshowcase! Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see her amazing mastery of dance orientale during her brief visit to So CA. Come early for a healthy veggie sandwich from Viento y Agua to eat while enjoying fabulous dance performances by these great artists; then stay afterward to indulge in birthday cake!

Join Saviya on her special day and be gifted by the incredibly creative and talented dancing of Raks Bahlam, Kamar, Anastasia, Draca, Ibn Fadlan (aka Richie) and Ilana. We hope you will come to Viento y Agua to help Shimmyshowcase’s favorite Sagittarius celebrate her special day and end our Shimmyshowcase year on a grand note. May 1 - Coordinator Abraiha and guest dancers May, Liz, Circe, and Shauntel dance for Japan at this Shimmyshowcase, for which all tips received will be donated to the Red Cross in support of Japanese earthquake relief efforts, Celebrate May Day by joining us at I-Candy Coffee to support Shimmyshowcase and our friends in Japan. Beginning with this showcase, we’ll be starting promptly at 6:00 pm. Please try to arrive 15 minutes early so you can get a refreshing beverage or perhaps the sandwich and salad special and settle in your seat so you don’t miss one minute of these dazzling dancers’ performance.

Saviya presents USO Shimmyshowcase “for the troops” this Sunday!
October 17 - "Aunt Saviya" wants YOU to join us on this special evening for a unique Shimmyshowcase featuring a “40’s twist” with dancers Saviya, Sarah al Nour, Katerina, Tom&Eve, Marija, Del&Becky, Rebecca, and singing by the Sweeties! In the spirit of the United Service Organization (USO), this showcase is dedicated to our men and women in the armed forces. It is a special theme night, supporting our military overseas by sending them reminders from home! All tips collected this night go toward preparing and sending care packages to military in Afghanistan and Iraq. October 3 – Jannah from the Om Sisters presents a Shimmyshowcase night at the movies! Guest dancers Najma, Taliee, Azira, and Reba are eager to dance their favorite movie themes for your enjoyment. Please come down and join in the fun!

October 10 – Special Shimmyshowcase event at a special time (5:00 pm). Guest coordinator Katerina presents a Sufi Zikr inspired Shimmy Showcase with live music by Saf Mavi. Presenting a whirling performance by Marguerite Kusuhara and dancing by Lee Ali, Akasha Starr and Katerina and the Kabuki Dolls. Dhikr, otherwise spelt Zikr or Zikar, is literally "remembering". It is the religious ceremony or act of devotion practiced by the various Sufi orders. Universal Sufi Dhikr differs from the Islamic form of Dhikr, widening the scope of the term to encompass remembrance of the spiritual in all forms. Come join us for a moving music and dance experience -- starting earlier than usual at 5:00 PM.

October 17 - In the spirit of the USO this showcase is dedicated to our men and women in the armed forces. It is a special "fund raising" theme night, supporting a charity that remembers our military overseas by sending them reminders from home! All tips collected this night go to this cause. DANCERS "Aunt Saviya" wants YOU to entertain on behalf of our military and hopefully to our military as our guests! Saviya would love for every dancer who has a loved one or friend in the military to join us on this special evening and spread the word among your friends to come to Shimmyshowcase on October 17 for unique variations on dance orientale and other entertainment provided by Sarah al Nour, Katerina, Tom&Eve, Marija, and Del&Becky. September 19 - It’s Reggae night at Shimmyshowcase and Amber of the Om Sisters already has Bella and Mandi lined up to mellow the magic carpet at I-Candy. This should be the perfect Shimmyshowcase for those seeking respite from the many stresses life brings these days, where you can relax with a nice cup of tea, specialty beverage or tasty desert and enjoy fine dancing to a reggae beat (but please leave the ganja at home!). We have Haven Bellydance troupe, Draca, and Delilah signed on as guest rockers/dancers to entertain the folks at I-Candy coffee with great dancing set to great music. So come on down, grab a cup of coffee and a slice of cheesecake or sandwich and settle in for a rollicking good time.

August 22 - Spectacular Special Shimmyshowcase event on this evening as Sarah al Nour & Alec Marken present Bands & Bellies 5! Please join us at I-Candy at 7 pm for an extraordinary program of live music by Deep Stirrings for the first half, followed by some fabulous dancing by Katerina, Veronika, IrinaXara, Perizad, Onyx, and BonBon plus Global Groove for the finale. These accomplished dancers perform to a range of styles from fusion to Middle Eastern—something for everyone’s taste! You don’t want to miss this fabulous event!
